On this very basic instructional video, Musician's Institute instructor Chris Torrey covers the principles of sound reinforcement as they pertain to electric guitar, electric bass, drums, and vocals. He begins with microphone selection and placement and then moves on to using wedge monitors (including how to ring them out at sound check), speaks briefly about EQ, and wraps up with a few comments on dynamics processors and effects.

In all cases, only the most basic information is provided. For example, after each discussion of microphone placement, there are audio examples of the sound without EQ and then with EQ, but the type and amount of EQ is not mentioned. Speaking of EQ, Torrey mistakenly refers to semiparametric EQ as parametric, a somewhat surprising error given his position. Although some good insights are offered, the video's limited scope makes it more useful to the absolute beginner than to even semipro sound-reinforcement engineers, and there are certainly no tips for pros.
